Feminine, Romantic, Stylish yet Simple!

The 1950’s Makeup look is one of subtle eye shadow, dominant black eyeliner and gorgeous dramatic red lips.

This look been brought back to life by star’s such as Jessica Alba, Gwen Stefani of course the beautiful and ever glam Christina Aguilera to name only a few from the endless list of Hollywood glamour fans.

This style is topped off and accentuated by the popular Rockabilly style hairdo’s and soft Pin curls.

It’s hard to believe that such a dramatic and show stopping look can be so easy to recreate.

Use my step by step guide on how to recreate the beautiful Marilyn Monroe look and you will have those heads turning and jaws dropping in no time.

1. Apply a good base and foundation

Use a Foundation shade lighter than your usual shade and avoid bronzers to keep your complexion smooth.

A soft pink blush on the apples of your cheeks is enough.

2. Define your Eyebrows

Line your eyebrows to show off and enhance the natural lines and curves.

3. Apply your eye shadow

Apply a light coloured eye-shadow all over your eyelids and right up to your brow bone. Try to keep the colour quite subtle, go too white and you will lose the subtlety of this look.

4. Emphasize your eyes

Use a small flat brush with a medium brown eye-shadow and apply in an upward motion just above the crease of your eye. This will give your eyes more definition and shape. Avoid getting the eye shadow on your lid as it will work in the opposite way and draw your eyes closed.

5. Line your eyes

When applying your liquid black eyeliner, starting from the inner corner of your eye, keep the line thin and gradually build the line thicker as you reach the outer corner of the eye. Apply a thickening black mascara.

6. Apply your lipstick

Using a Lip Liner pencil the same shade as your lipstick, carefully line your lips. This should reduce the bleed that so many get when using red lipstick. To keep your lips looking smooth and healthy always apply your lip stick and gloss with a lip brush.

OPTIONAL EXTRAS: Eyelashes! If you want to finish off this look, do it with lashes. Get some thick black eyelashes and cut off 1/3 from the outer end. This should leave the lashes thin and the inner side and long and the outer. Keep the eyelashes to the outer corner of your eye. This will be the show stopping finish for your look.
