Spray Tanning – We’ve Got It Covered!

When you’re having a spray tan, it’s easy to assume that all of the hard work will be done for you. This is mostly true, but there are certain things that you can do to ensure you look as blooming marvelous as possible!

Spray Tan TentPreparation
Firstly, essential skin prep MUST BE DONE before having a spray tan. This includes shaving/waxing any part of your body where the tan will settle. I recommended doing this at least 24 hours before your spray tan. This will give your skin time to calm down before adding a new product to it.

Legs Shaving

Always scrub your body from head to toe a few hours before a spray tan. Like with any fake tanning, scrubbing your body removes any dead skin cells and leaves you with a beautiful, smooth canvas for the tan to be applied to. I use a natural exfoliator like this one available at Boots and apply it in circular motions using exfoliating gloves.

It is always good to ensure that you do not have any lotions or deodorants on your skin. Depending on which tanning product it is there is always the risk that it could react with any product on your skin so I always remove everything just in case.

My final recommendation is to make sure you wear nail polish. Even if it is just a clear layer of polish, this will eliminate the risk of staining your nails, which can turn them a horrible, dull yellow colour.

What to Expect
Every spray tan is different due to the person doing it and the equipment used. However, for the most part, the spray is fairly cold and will feel sticky afterwards, this is perfectly normal.

After the spray tan you will be asked to stand still to let it dry. Resist the urge to touch your skin; you want to make sure that your tan dries completely untouched, to ensure a perfect finish!

It is up to you what you wear during the tanning, some people like to have one in their entire birthday suit, and others will wear some form of underwear/swimwear. If you decide to keep something on, then I recommend it is dark and not your favourite pair of pants, as the tan may stain them.

The whole process is pretty quick and very simple so enjoy it in the knowledge of how great you’re going to look!
