Precious Metals: A Hair Hit

Precious metal hair is very on trend  and it doesn’t look set to be disappearing anytime soon.  So here’s my heads up on Gold!
Sienna Miller Rose Gold Hair
Rose gold has been a rising look since Sienna Miller hit the red carpet with her stunning pinkish blonde tresses in December 2013.
Molly Sims Rose Gold Hair
The likes of Victoria Secret’s model Molly Sims and actress Rachel McAdams were hot on her heels and it looks like this stunning tone is quickly becoming a firm favourite in celeb world and has taken a firm place on the runways too, with models flaunting this fabulous look whilst wearing the latest collections for A/W 14.
Rachel McAdams Rose Gold Hair
Pinky Bronze tones are also destined to be hot for this coming season.  This look can be achieved by fusing together some rich butterscotch tones with glowing honey tints and hues of soft baby pink to give a softer but trend setting edge to this look.  What a perfect way to add warm tones to your hair and warm up your skin for the long cold nights ahead!

The Beauty Cloud’s Guide to Festival Hair

Fesitval Season can be a tricky one for us ladies when it comes to keeping those tresses tamed, so I’ve come up with an easy 4-Day guide to easy-to-manage hairstyles to ensure you stay looking gorgeous the whole time.

DAY ONE

Festival Hair says one thing to me Bohemian Glamour!!

4 Day Festival Hair Guide, House of Fraser, Hair Care, Products Aveda, Tierry Mugler, Chloe Anderson, JW Anderson, Belfast, Ireland, Hair, Beauty, Style

Curls and waves created by spritzing on AVEDA ‘BE CURLY’ ENHANCING SPRAY, then curling by patting GHD‘s over pin-curls formed by wrapping hair around 3-4 fingers giving unique curls and waves of all sizes and shapes. By using the ‘Be Curly’ and GHD’s this will give curls that will last and drop into soft waves in 3-4 days.

DAY TWO

Curls have dropped and dressed through naturally giving tousled informal curls and waves. If you have any frizzing, 2-3 spritz of Be Curly Spray again will tame it down.

Lift the front of your brow with a plait creating a practical but kooky twist to the look.

DAY THREE

4 Day Festival Hair Guide, House of Fraser, Hair Care, Products Aveda, Tierry Mugler, Chloe Anderson, JW Anderson, Belfast, Ireland, Hair, Beauty, Style

By now the curls have relaxed into irregular waves. Scoop the hair back off your face with two effortless plaits joining into one creating some boho chic.

If our festival babes are feeling a tad un-fresh a mist of TIERRY MULGER ANGEL PERFUMING HAIR MIST will have you feeling as fresh as a daisy!

 DAY FOUR

Continuing on with some bang on-trend plaits simply just pull hair all to one side, letting shorter layers drop softly then plait loosely into a two-strand plait creating a fishtail, giving a Boho finale to our festival style!!

Getting Sizzling Summer Hair: Top Tips

Woo hoo! It’s holi-bob time again.  If you’re looking the perfect barnet to keep you looking glam in the sun and heat, look know further.  Here are my top summer styles that will keep you looking fabulous rain or shine.
Long Hair
My top tip for long hair is to put it up.  This way you can maintain effortless style even when the heat is up. There are 3 up-styles trending this summer that will give you the perfect look while you lounge around the pool.
1. The Low PonytailLow ponytail with volumeThe low ponytail has featured on several big name runways this season.  To achieve this look, slick your hair back when it is slightly damp to get a great smooth finish then pull it into the nape of your neck and secure.  If you want a more professional finish, take some hair out of the ponytail and wrap it around the hair band to hide it, securing under the ponytail with a clip.  This looks can be achieved in a couple of minutes meaning more time in the sun!
2. Plaits
Plaits are the next hot look this season. They are very versatile and can be worn anywhere.
For a casual daytime, look pull hair to the side and softy plait.
Victoria Beckham side braid
For a more elegant evening style, plait around the top or around the front of the head.

For an extra snazzy look, try a two strand fishtail plait!

3. The Bun
Michelle-Keegan Bun Donut
The celeb bun, as sported by the likes of Michelle Keegan, can be achieved with a foolproof bun donut (available to buy everywhere).  Just pop your hair in a ponytail, positioned on the head where you want the bun, then slip the donut over the ponytail.  Next, wrap the hair around the donut, tucking in the ends underneath and securing as needed.  Hey presto, instant glamour!
Short and Mid Length Hair
Rita Ora_Slicked Back Hair
For short and mid length hair the tip is keep it simple,  slick it down either in a parting, giving a 1920’s feel, or slick it all back as Rita Ora did on the red carpet not so long ago. To keep it slicked down, use a protection gel or cream that will give you style and protection in one chic swoop!
Whatever you venture with you hair this summer have some voguish fun in the sun!

No Need for Shampoo!

I’m a big lover of dry shampoo, but I have two major hang-ups about them. They are the smell and the dusty residue left behind on the hair.

When Lush’s No Drought came into my hands I thought ‘Here we go again’, but I can’t contain it anymore No Drought is AMAZZZZZZING!!

It absorbs all moisture and natural oils all while leaving no dusty remains, in-fact a lot of times leaving the hair looking shiny and healthy, which we all know lush-no-drought-dry-shampoo, fesitval, fun, party, summer, pick, hairdoesn’t usually happen with regular Dry Shampoo’s.

Lime and Grapefruit extracts not only make the powder smell fresh but also deodorise the hair at the same time – What more would you need from a dry shampoo?

So I know my session bag will now only have Lush’s No Drought Dry Shampoo in it.

Who needs water and shampoo everyday we got No Drought !!

Summer Hair to Dye For

The weather seems to be picking up and the sun is out.  Woohoo! It’s time for some summer fun so why not start with your hair colour?  A few celeb’s are already leading the way with their stunning new summer hairdos.

Katy Perry Green Hair DyeKaty Perry has decided to go for a fresh spring colour and there’s nothing that says more spring than green! Katy calls her green tresses ‘slime colour’.  Well, I’ve never seen slime looking so good.

Kelly OsbourneKelly Osborne, never to be out done, has gone for a more subtle lilac colour with beautiful soft tones.  I have fallen in love with this looks soft feminine feel that still manages to retain an edge.

Keeping with the soft subtle theme, Julianne Hough is our inspiration.  Here, she’s sporting silvery grey tones icing up her blonde maine with clever suggestive colouring.

Julianne Hough

Fancy some spring time tones and colour?  Well, here’s a fantastic way of injecting them in into your current hairstyle.  Those of you who follow my blog you will know what a huge fan I am of these little gems…  You will never find me without them in my session bag… Yes, that’s right! It’s Kevin Murphy’s Color Bug.  These little bugs can give colour ranging from subtle tones to vivid streaks and last until your next shampoo.  For subtle tones apply to dry hair.  For more striking colour add to damp hair.

There are a range of fun colours to choose from.  There are pink, purple and orange dyes – perfect for achieving an eye-popping look.  For more subtle colouring use the white bug to ice out blondes and glimmer bug to give glamorous golden tones to blondes and brunettes.

Let’s all have some fun in the sun with our hair colour – even if it’s just for a day!!!

Bangs: Don’t Stand on the Fringe.

The sun is out and spirits are high.  Many of us are spring cleaning our houses and wardrobes in some cases. With all this change we sometimes feel our image could do with a spruce up too.  Well, I have a suggestion which doesn’t require anything too drastic – in one word it’s ‘fringe’!

Holly Willoughby
The first fringe in my spotlight is the long fringe.  This is great for mid length and longer hair styles and those with heart shaped faces. Its an easy casual fringe to wear either pushed to the side or worn in a centre parting, pushed back and then allowed to fall naturally and secured in place with a light spritz of hairspray. This is a low commitment, low maintenance fringe – perfect for hair dresser shy people!

Celebrity Soft Full FringeNext up – the soft full fringe.  This fringe is ideal for long, medium length hair and select shorter length styles. This fringe is perfect for oval, heart and square shaped faces.  Top tip for this fringe is to use a large round brush when blow drying it to give it fullness. When dry, give it a light shake to tousle it and make it ‘bitty’ looking – softening the look.  This is a medium commitment fringe needing maintenance every 8-10 weeks.

56TH Grammy Awards

If you are looking to make a strong statement then the blunt fringe is for you. When done well this fringe is nothing short of stunning.  It can frame any oval face but some round faces can carry it effortlessly too! It is the focal point of a haircut and can vary widely in length depending on how brave you are.  Blunt fringes are, however, high maintenance and need cutting every 4-6 weeks to retain its bluntness.

Cameron Diaz

To add definition to your face shape & cheek bones try the side fringe.  It gives the impression of a longer face, making it most compatible with a round face type. This is a great way to soften long and medium length hairstyles but works effectively with short styles too.  This fringe requires a medium commitment and is an easy going little twist to a hair cut.

Don’t stand on the fringe, jump in and give it a go!!

Essential Hair Guide for Brides

Spring has officially sprung and to me that acknowledges the start of wedding season.  Ooooohhhh I love it – what woman doesn’t!

So for my latest blog I thought I would share some of my bridal hair knowledge in my essential hair guide for every bride to be.

1. A bride should look effortlessly beautiful. Yes we all want to look stunning on our wedding day but you also want it to be naturally breathtaking so my advice is less is more, you still want to look like yourself in your album but just at your very best!

Effortlessly beautiful hair
2 . When selecting a style for your hair make sure it compliments the style of your dress & make up. When consulting with a bride I always request a picture of the dress so we can design the hair to be an extension of the dress for that total look.

Hair to reflect the dress and makeup
3 . Remember the limitations of your hair, during my bridal consultations I explain to my bride that the hair has to hold its style all day as every bride wants to look as fabulous for her evening guests arriving as she did when she glided down the aisle.

Bridal Hair: Up do
4 . Be comfortable. The bride is the centre of all the attention on her wedding day (and all the photos) so she needs to be comfortable, to feel confident with all eyes on her as she basks in all the attention. With this in mind, select a style that you feel good with. Don’t just jump for style that looks amazing in a bridal magazine – remember you’ve to wear it all day in the spotlight.

Bridal hair that's comfortable
With these tips you’re sure to have a good wedding hair day!
