Makeup of the Day – ‘Same Palette, Different Day’ (04-6-14)

I wanted to show the versatility of make-up and how you can create different looks with the one product. So for today’s MOTD, I used exactly the same make-up products as I did in my last MOTD post, but I used them in a slightly different way to create a more dramatic look.

The only thing I changed was the amount of the different colours in the eye-shadow palette and how I packed it on to create more depth of colour in the pigment. I also used a black eyeliner pencil as opposed to the white pencil in the last one.

Here you go, here is my look of the day. Let me know what you think ♥ (Larger photos below the product details).

Makeup of the Day (02/6/14)

Well today is my ‘Day-Off’ and I don’t have anything very exciting planned except heading out for lunch with my lovely hubbie and doing a bit of shopping for our Summer Holidays (Yippeeeee!)

So in terms of makeup I didn’t want to wear anything to heavy so I opted for a warm subtle smoky eye with some white pencil in the lower waterline to keep it light looking. I didn’t use any illuminators today as when I use the FOM Cosmetics Moisturiser and Hello Flawless Foundation together you get a lovely dewy finish to the skin.

So here you go, here is my makeup look for today. Larger Images and full product listing with links and prices are below.

Tanning Friday! Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Natural Bronze Gradual Tanning Moisturiser

False Tan, Fake Tan, Palmers Cocoa Butter, Golden Bronze, moisturiser

Just because it’s getting colder and darker, doesn’t mean we have to give up the on the dream of a suntan! As our skin has a pretty hard time facing the cold elements of winter, why not rid both pasty skin and dry, chapped skin all in one go!?

This week’s fake tan is by Palmers and uses their incredible cocoa butter formula. This truly is one of the most delicious smelling products out there. If like me, your partner despises the infamous smell of most fake tans…I very much doubt they dislike the smell of chocolate? Therefore, they will love this one.

False Tan, Fake Tan, Palmers Cocoa Butter, Golden Bronze, moisturiser

This tan formula is a gradual tan which I would recommend applying about 2 – 3 times a week to maintain a deep, luxurious tan. The colour is very natural and noticeable, and as it is essentially cocoa butter, it is extremely moisturising for your weather beaten skin, and a dream to apply! The only place I would not recommend applying this product is your face as it is fairly oily. This is fantastic for all of your body, but not for your face if you have oily or combination skin.

False Tan, Fake Tan, Palmers Cocoa Butter, Golden Bronze, moisturiser

The bottle has a handy pump to ensure a no mess application, and you can also apply with your hands if you do not have a tanning mitt as it goes on so smoothly! Just always wash your hands straight away once the tan is applied! You don’t want orange peel hands.

If you exfoliate your whole body once a week, and apply a few times during the days in between, you are guaranteed to have a beautiful natural looking tan throughout the winter months, as well as perfectly soft skin. As always, I recommended applying before bed, therefore allowing the tan to develop for around 8 hours while you sleep. Make sure you sleep in loose fitting, dark clothing.

As this amazing formula is only available at Boots, Superdrug and many other online and high street retailers for a generous price of just £5.35 – you have no excuse not to give it a try! Your skin deserves it!

GRAB YOURSELF A BARGAIN – Superdrug now have an offer on this great product meaning you will pick it up at a reduced price of  £3.56!! Click on the link below to get yours!

Feel Fresh Every Morning with this Age Defying Moisturiser!

I am always on the search for products which up-the-game in the cosmetics market. I came across FoM Cosmetics, which is short for Freshness of the Morning Cosmetics. I know the name comes across a little different from your usual Brand name, but when you try their products you will understand why.

All of their products are made up of 100% natural plant-based ingredients. I had a little read of their philosophy and commitments as a brand and it is very refreshing to hear their ethical approach to cosmetics, from how they are so dedicated to the safe sourcing of their ingredients to making sure their packaging is made from 100% recyclable English glass.

Freshness of the morning age defying moisturiserI have been trying out the FoM Age Defying Facial Moisturiser for a number of weeks now on myself and on a wide variety of my clients. I really do love it. I wish I could capture the smell of it and post it up here for you…. well, you may all end up on a shopping spree of their products if I did that! It’s smells so beautiful and is full of gorgeous essential oils.

The product name markets this moisturiser as ‘age defying’ and I would agree. Since using the moisturiser my skin is noticably smoother, brighter and firmer. My fine lines which have been making a featured appearance the past while are no longer. This is down to their selection of wonderful ingredients which contain Essential Fatty Acids, Key Amino Acids, natural proteins, vitamins, antioxidants and mineral. Yet all of this is achieved without the use of harsh chemicals!

As a Professional Makeup Artist, I want products which are effective and easy to incorporate in my routine and kit. I find so many moisturisers need time to settle and absorb into the skin before applying makeup and some even after 10-15 minutes wait can still adversely affect your makeup application. I am happy to say that you are safe to apply this moisturiser right before your makeup with no waiting time. In fact, it actually enhances your makeup as it leaves you with  a gorgeous dewy glow without being too shiny or over the top.

This moisturiser is suitable for all skin types. I have tried this out on friends and family who suffer really badly with sensitive skin and there was no bad reactions. It’s fantastic!

So if you are on the look-out for a natural, ethical and effective premium moisturiser, it is well worth your while to invest in this product. I know I will definitely be keeping it in my kit from now on. It is priced at £25.00 and is available online at www.FoMCosmetics.co.uk.

Product Review and GIVEAWAY! – Benefit Cosmetic’s Triple Performing Facial Emulsion.

One thing I am always looking for is an effective light-weight moisturiser which can be applied right before makeup application. It doesn’t sound like too much to ask for right? Well you’re wrong! So many moisturisers require a waiting time before applying makeup, some even up to 20 minutes! But let’s face it, who wants to get up for work in the morning, wash their face, moisturise and then have to wait 20 minutes before they can finish off getting ready and putting their makeup on.  Then if you don’t wait that 20 minutes, your makeup is ruined!

Benefit Cosmetics Triple Performing Facial Emulsion Product Review www.TheBeautyCloud.co.uk

Therefore, when I got to try the Triple Performing Facial Emulsion by Benefit Cosmetics, I was over the moon. I love this product. It absorbs well into the skin and doesn’t leave you feeling greasy. It is oil-free and has Broad Spectrum UVA and UBA SPF 15 protection in it, so it helps prevent premature aging.

It isn’t called Triple Performing for no reason. It’s because it unleashes a trio of superpowers every time you apply it on your skin; Hydration, Protection, and Soothing Loveliness! (I’m pretty sure that isn’t an official way of describing it!). Every time I apply this lotion to my skin I feel so refreshed. It leaves your skin feeling wonderful and the smell is so invigorating. Saying that, because it smells so beautifully, I would avoid applying over your lips ( just trust me on this one).

Benefit Cosmetics Triple Performing Facial Emulsion Product Review www.TheBeautyCloud.co.uk

Although I am not proned to spots or break-outs, I do get little whitehead blemishes very easily, and it’s usually caused by the moisturiser I am using. I can tell within a few days of using a product if it is being absorbed efficiently into the skin as I will get a build up of these pesky blemishes.

However, I have been using this moisturiser for over a year now and I can honestly say that there is no residue left behind on my skin to cause blemishes or breakouts. I find that this product works well on all skin-types.

If you suffer from sensitive skin, I would call in and ask for a sample of the product before buying as it does smell REALLY nice. So if you skin is sensitive to perfumes this may not be the product for you. I haven’t actually had this problem with any of my clients, but you are better safe than sorry and the girls at the Benefit Counters are more than happy to give you a sample of this product to try before you buy.

Benefit Cosmetics Triple Performing Facial Emulsion Product Review www.TheBeautyCloud.co.ukThis moisturiser comes in a lovely glass bottle with a cork effect lid. The lid pulls off to reveal a pump dispenser. I love the dispenser as it helps to limit your product usage, preventing wastage. You need very little of the product to do the job. I think a bottle of this will last anyone around 8-9 months.

Triple Performing Facial Emulsion is priced at £20.50 for a 50ml bottle. Personally I think it is quite reasonably priced in comparison to other major cosmetic brand skincare products. I would expect to pay around £45 for a great complete moisturiser; and by complete I mean anti-aging! This moisturiser does help prevent aging via its Broad Spectrum SPF, however, it doesn’t claim to be Anti-Aging.  Therefore, I find Benefit Cosmetics price of £20.50 well thought out and reasonable for this product.

You can buy this moisturiser at any Benefit Cosmetics Counter or online at www.BenefitCosmetics.co.uk or www.BenefitCosmetics.com if you are outside the UK.

Now for some even better news…. I am having a GIVEAWAY of Benefit’s Triple Performing Facial Emulsion on my Facebook Page at the moment. Click here to see how you can WIN a bottle – I have 3 to giveaway!!

Product Review: Lush Cosmetics – Imperialis Moisturiser

Following a recent visit to Lush Cosmetics in Belfast. I was given some of their ‘Imperialis’ Moisturiser to try out. I was advised that this would be good for my skin type (Combination).Imperialis Moisturiser by Lush CosmeticsI love using products which I know are ‘feeding’ my skin with Natural goodness. Some of the natural ingredients in this moisturiser are Lavender Flower Infusion, Mullein Leaf Infusion,Orange Blossom Water, Organic Extra Virgin

Orange Blossom waterOlive Oil,  Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Glycerine,  Orange Flower Absolute, Brunello Lily Petals, St Johns Wort Extract,  Elderflower Extract,  Sweet Violet Extract, Sunflower Petal Extract and Alkanet Extract. (Click on any of the ingredients above to read more about their wonderful properties and why they are in this product). In other words, a little tub of this moisturiser is packed full of earthly goodness!

Lavender Flower InfusionI have heard a lot of people say that they aren’t too keen on the smell of ‘Imperialis’. However, in my opinion, I would rather use something which is good for my skin than using a product loaded with perfume.  I find this product has quite an antiseptic smell to it, which may be the Sweet Violet Extract or Lavender Flower, saying that, it could be many of the beautiful products and essential oils.

It may be a good time to tell you that Lush Cosmetics are strictly against animal testing. All of their products are vegetarian and where all their products are not Vegan-Logo-from-The-Vegan-Societyclassed as ‘Vegan’, the ‘Imperialis’ Moisturiser is.  Lush invent all of their own products and make them fresh BY HAND! They use little or no preservatives. They use minimal packaging and encourage recycling of their tubs, offering their customers free face-masks when they return 5 empty tubs.

I found this product absorbed into the skin well and where I found I have a few breakouts in the first couple of days of using it, they cleared up and my skin has been clear and bright since. This may be due to the fact that I stopped using this product at night and used it only during the day time after cleansing. This product doesn’t leave a heavy residue behind and is quickly absorbed into the skin, so it is great for using before make-up without having to wait before being able to apply.lush1

In summary, I feel this is a great moisturiser. When you consider all of the natural plant extracts and oils put into this product, I think the price is very reasonable in comparison to other products of this nature.

The ‘Imperialis’ Moisturiser comes in a 45g tub and is priced at £12.50. It is available online at www.lush.co.uk for worldwide delivery or at your local Lush Cosmetics Store.

Have you tried ‘Imperialis’? If so, why not leave me a comment and let me know what you think of it.
