Dress of the Month ~ July 2014

Alyssa Wedding Dress by Allure Bridals

Right now my favourite of all of our Bridal Gowns is the fabulous Alyssa by Allure Bridals (Style 8955). It really is such a fun wedding dress, with its funky frills and gorgeous embellishment it definitely stands out from the crowd!

This romantic ballgown is created from layers of soft organza. The bodice features a sweetheart neckline with lace, while the waistline has a satin band with a sparkling appliqué.

We recently showcased this beautiful gown in a fashion show and it was the dress that everyone was talking about afterwards.  This is definitely the dress for the girl who wants to make an impact on her wedding day!

Dress of the Month ~ June 2014

My favourite dress of the moment is the absolutely beautiful Tabitha by Charlotte Balbier!

Charlotte Balbier 'Tabitha' fitted lace gown with beautiful beadwork and a V neckline.

A gorgeous fitted lace gown with beautiful beadwork and a V neckline. Tabitha is one of Charlotte’s ‘Hall of Fame’ dresses, which means she is a bridal best seller. Charlotte designed this beautiful dress a few years ago and brides continue to love it!

Since we haven’t been stocking Charlotte’s collection for very long Tabitha is brand new to us, but she was definitely one of the dresses that were on our ‘must have’ list when we visited Charlotte’s showroom last year.

I love everything about this dress but mostly how soft and light the lace is! So many of our lace gowns are much heavier and sometimes even a little bulky, but this dress is the complete opposite and really means it could be the perfect option for a wedding abroad!

Dress of the Month ~ May 2014

My favourite dress in May only arrived a few weeks ago and already has me so distracted! The stunning Rosa is an exquisite beaded lace fishtail gown with a beautiful neckline and capped sleeves.

Every element of this dress is gorgeous and of such amazing quality, it really is a beautifully made dress – the inner corset ensures the fit of the dress is fabulous, the Swarovski crystals twinkle, and the lace detailing is impeccably finished. But what makes this dress stand out so much for me is the amazing pale gold colour!

In a shop full of ivory gowns, of course it’s going to stand out, but there is something just delicious about this shade – it is mega flattering against Irish skin! Somehow it works as well on dark haired girls as it does on blondes. I cannot wait to see which bride buys her first!

Dress of the Month ~ April 2014

My favourite dress of the moment is the adorable ‘Sweetpea’ by Charlotte Balbier. There are many different reasons why this dress has caught my attention: the gorgeous lace fabric, the scalloped hem, the beautiful broad cap sleeves and the fabulous closed in back.  All these features combine to make a stunning dress.  However, but it’s the length that really makes it fabulous!

Sweatpea Bridal Dress

Slightly shorter than tea length, this dress is super cute and perfect for a 1950s themed wedding. It looks even cuter when worn with a petticoat to emphasise the shape, and I love to see it worn with round toed shoes and a super short full veil. I just love her and I think a lot of our brides do too – shes our window display at the minute and I keep having to wreck the display to get it out!

Dress of the Month ~ March 2014

Right now I am slightly obsessed with our beautiful Boadicea gown from Charlotte Balbier! This is definitely not a typical wedding dress – this dress is super glamorous, sophisticated and very very sexy.

Boadacea

She features a very pretty sheer lace bateau neckline which lots of our brides are loving right now.  However, instead of being a full lace look this gown features a fluid and luxurious satin skirt.

Boadicea

She is simply beautiful. But the most surprising part of this dress is the stunning sheer lace back! It makes a statement and is definitely a fabulous choice for a confident bride.

Dress of the Month ~ February 2014

This month’s dress might just be my favourite dress… ever! Sarah, by Charlotte Balbier, is the only dress I’ve ever actually hugged.  It is THAT pretty.

Sarah Wedding Dress, Charlotte Balbier

When we visited Charlotte’s showroom back in summer 2013 this gorgeous dress kept grabbing my attention from right across the room, we just had to buy her. Now that she has arrived into our boutique I think she is my ideal wedding dress. She combines so many elements of gorgeous detail and design that she is just about perfect!

Spotted tulle, textured flowers and lace applique sounds like it should be too much on one dress but I promise you that the result is soft, subtle and delightful.

The silhouette is a super flattering dropped waist ballgown with a shallow sweetheart neckline and a fabulous corseted bodice.

A true princess dress. I love her!

Dress of the Month ~ January 2014

This month my favourite dress has to be the lovely Kerry.  It may be that it’s the soft satin in this style that has captured my attention over all the tulle and lace styles that are filling our rails, but there is just something gorgeous about Kerry!

Dress of the Month, Bridal
We have her in size 20 and I feel that she does all kinds of favours for us curvier girls. The way the pleats hang along the body curve will emphasise an hourglass silhouette. For those of us with more of a thick waist, the deep sweetheart neckline and criss-cross effect through the waist will create a nipped in effect.

This dress features a lace up corset back and superior interior corsetry which also contributes to that perfect silhouette.

I love that the beaded detailing on this gown is concentrated to one small area – enough to add that mandatory bridal Swarovski sparkle but minimal enough not to be overwhelming.

I pair this dress with a headpiece featuring the same beading, worn on the opposite side of the head for balance, and a ribbon edged veil cascading the full length of the train.
