Make-up of the Day (05-06-14)

Oh I LOVE playing with new Palettes. This is the second of the two new palettes I bought from the Makeup Pro Store in Belfast. It is my Make-up Atelier Paris and is so versatile.

I woke feeling a little under the weather today so I’m feeling the need to smoke it out a bit. I didn’t sculpt my brows too much today as I am in and out of business meetings all day and don’t want to frighten anyone when up close and personal haha.

I actually used the Eyeshadow Palette to shade my brows a little so they are well matched. I just applied a bit of clear brow gel to my brows first and then used a thin angle brush to shade.

Here is my Make-up of the Day – As per usual, larger images are at the bottom.

Makeup of the Day – ‘Same Palette, Different Day’ (04-6-14)

I wanted to show the versatility of make-up and how you can create different looks with the one product. So for today’s MOTD, I used exactly the same make-up products as I did in my last MOTD post, but I used them in a slightly different way to create a more dramatic look.

The only thing I changed was the amount of the different colours in the eye-shadow palette and how I packed it on to create more depth of colour in the pigment. I also used a black eyeliner pencil as opposed to the white pencil in the last one.

Here you go, here is my look of the day. Let me know what you think ♥ (Larger photos below the product details).

Makeup of the Day (02/6/14)

Well today is my ‘Day-Off’ and I don’t have anything very exciting planned except heading out for lunch with my lovely hubbie and doing a bit of shopping for our Summer Holidays (Yippeeeee!)

So in terms of makeup I didn’t want to wear anything to heavy so I opted for a warm subtle smoky eye with some white pencil in the lower waterline to keep it light looking. I didn’t use any illuminators today as when I use the FOM Cosmetics Moisturiser and Hello Flawless Foundation together you get a lovely dewy finish to the skin.

So here you go, here is my makeup look for today. Larger Images and full product listing with links and prices are below.

Make-up of the Day (01/6/14)

I’m off out to see comedienne and top model Diona Doherty in a preview of a new comedy sketch so I opted for a bit of colour on the eye tonight.

This is proof that you don’t necessarily have to spend £50.00 on an eyeshadow palette to create a great look. This eyeshadow palette is available to buy for only £3.99!!! That’s not to say that all drugstore eyeshadow palettes will be great.

Let’s Talk Brows!

Let’s talk brows! I am all for them – In fact, it would be safe to say I am PRO-BROW! So when I was asked to actually be involved in the naming of a Pro-Brow Kit for Superdrug’s B. Range, naturally I jumped at the chance.

Introducing….. ‘B.Defined‘ – I know, I know, I’m a literary genius! You don’t have to tell me, I already know it’s the best named product EVER!

B. Defined Dark B. Defined Light, superdrug, b. range, brow kit, brow gel, highlighter B. Defined Light, superdrug, b. range, brow kit, brow gel, highlighter

But in all seriousness, I totally love this product and that is not me being biased. As a Makeup Artist, I won’t say a product is great if it actually isn’t.

B. Defined is part of Superdrug’s ‘B.’ Range. I have reviewed a number of their products in the past and have been very impressed with them. Read some of them here:

Product Review: B. Naked Foundation

B. Quick and Be Clean!

Your Summer would not B. Complete without these Eye Palettes!

Available in two shades (light and dark) and containing a wax to set, two brow shades and a creamy highlighter as well as double-ended applicator, the kit has everything required for beautifully defined eyebrows.

coleen-rooneyIf there is one thing I can’t stand, it’s 1-Dimensional Eyebrows. You should be shaping your eyebrows with multiple colours to create depth and definition. So unlike many other brow kits which only give you one colour to work with, B. Defined actually gives you 2! Allowing you to create the perfect 3D brows in your own home.

Just look how crazy Angelina Jolie would look if she opted for the one dimensional scouse brow!

hqdefault

Praise the heavens for Makeup Artists who actually give their clients the 3D megan-fox-giorgio-armani-beauty-01treatment. I have to say, I have a little bit of brow envy for Megan Foxes perfectly pruned brows, they are perfect!

I really love the wax in this product, it is soft enough to let you mould and shape your brows without them appearing stuck to the skin.

The highlighter is super creamy and very subtle. It really is an all-round great kit.

At the moment the kit is available in 2 shades, but I would love to see kits for ash/blonde or red heads aswell.

I do have some Good News and some Bad News for you though! I’ll give you the good news first – The B. Defined Brow Kit will be priced at a tiny £9.99. If you compare what you get in this kit against what you get in other leading brands kits, you are getting massive value for money. It will be available both on www.superdrug.com on in your local Superdrug store.

…. and the Bad News – The B. Defined kit I was sent is a pre-launch product – B. Defined isn’t actually released until May meaning you will have to wait a bit longer for it.

Here is a little #Selfie of my brows today using the B. Defined ‘Dark’ Kit

Nuala Campbell, Makeup Artist, B. Defined, superdrug, brow kit, eyebrows

For a Brand which is only 1 year old – They are making massive headway with their products.

Like everything in the B. makeup and skincare collection, the B. Defined eyebrow kit is certified cruelty free, and vegan.

You are going to love this kit! It is well worth it for under a tenner!

Enjoy!

Product Review: B. Naked Foundation

I love a good makeup prize find – especially when it is this affordable. A couple months back, the team over at Superdrug’s B. Range sent me some of their foundations to try out. Among them was their B. Naked – Light Hydrating Foundation. This retails in Superdrug for around £8.99.

2aFor anyone who follows my work, you will know that price is not as important to me as quality. I have tried some very expensive foundations which I find completely useless.

So the past few months I have been trying this makeup on different skin types, with different primers (go for cream or water based primers) and powders and I must say I am very impressed. The name is ‘B. Naked’ and I think that represents this foundation quite well. It is a lovely light illuminating foundation which is very buildable. You can build this up into a great medium coverage foundation very easily.

It works will all skin types from dry to oily, young to mature.

This has everything you would expect from a high-end foundation. It protects your skin against sun damage with UVA/UVB filters and contains Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate your skin. B.Range also claim that this product is transfer resistant for 8 hours. I haven’t put this to the test, but have no reason to doubt it, I’ve not had any disaster moments with it transferring.

The product comes in a sturdy glass bottle complete with a pump applicator, which gives it a premium feel. The pump can be unscrewed for pouring if that’s what you prefer, it also means you will have minimum wastage as you get to the end of the bottle where the pump is no longer of use. One thing I have noticed with most of B.Range’s foundations are that the pumps can be quite high pressured, so if you are pumping some out on your hand, do it away from your body and with the pump facing away also to avoid getting any product spray on your clothes or surrounding areas. You will get used to the pump very quickly though, I had it mastered in no time!

2v

This foundation is advertised as having a ‘naturally matte finish’. I have to disagree, I found this foundation to have a beautiful illuminating finish, which is great because that’s what I love from a foundation. So if you are buying this for sole purpose of it being Matte, I would recommend you go in-store and try it for yourself first. Otherwise, this is a beautiful foundation. B. Naked comes in 5 shades, ranging from Linen to Golden and as previously mentioned is priced at £8.99. However, since this is Superdrug’s own cosmetics range, you are always sure to pick up a bargain on this range. Their current offer is ‘Buy one get one half price’ which means you get them for around £6.74 each.

2c

So if you are looking for a fresh new foundation for Day time wear, I would definitely recommend giving this a try. I have been trying out a few of their other foundations too, so I will post about them shortly.

I have set up a little poll below to see who has tried the foundation and what your thoughts are, I’d really love to hear your feedback if you would take a moment to click an answer.

B.Quick and Be Clean!

I’m finding new favourite’s all over the place lately. For me face wipes have been something which I haven’t put too much thought into, solely because I go through such a huge amount of them in my work. I tend to go for cheap ones because of that and I’ve always kind of stuck to the same ones for sensitive skin.

However, when B.Range sent me some of their 4 in 1 wipes to try out, I was genuinely impressed. Here is a little of what they offer:

  1. Cleanses – Wipes away impurities, even waterproof makeup.
  2. Tones – With soothing Cucumber extract.
  3. Hydrates – With Vitamin E and Aloe Vera to help moisturise the skin, leaving it feeling smooth and soft.
  4. Conditions – Enriched with botanical extracts to help calm the skin.

B. Quick Face Cleansing Wipes Superdrug

They are fragrance and alcohol-free which makes them great for sensitive skin. I was really impressed with how easily they remove eye makeup and mascara (even stubborn waterproof mascara). There is no need to keep going over any area to finally remove your makeup, it only takes 1 wipe and 90% of your makeup is gone. Another thing I like about the wipes is the thickness, with some of the cheaper wipes you will find yourself doubling over the wipe to try and get a good thickness and grip on the product which basically halves the size of your wipe, well not with these!

I always kind of expect my face to feel quite raw after using wipes, but after trying these I feel like I’ve been cheated for years! Your face is left feeling cool, clean and very refreshed. None of that harsh stinging that I seem to get from most other wipes. They have the luxurious feel of a premium wipe, yet with a tiny price! At the moment these are priced at only £2.33 for a pack of 25 wipes at Superdrug. If you are lucky you can even keep an eye out for Superdrugs 3 for 2 offer and bag a pack for free!

So if you are looking for premium wipes, without the premium price tag, these are definitely worth a try!

Have you tried them yet?
