There’s a New A-Lister in Town

Recently, we’ve been spoilt with award ceremonies.  From the Oscars to the Brits…all of our favourite celebrities have been out in force, glamming it up and parting until the small hours of the morning.

But there is one attendee that has really stood out for me. No, I’m not talking about the extremely handsome Jared Leto and his amazingly silky hair…

Jared Leto

…I’m not talking about the gorgeous Pharell Williams and that ridiculous hat…

Pharell Williams

…I am in fact, talking about the new kid on the block, the thing that everyone wants to get their hands on…Vita Liberata.

Vita Liberata

If you are not familiar with this brand of fake tan, then shame on you. It is easily one of my favourites. And it’s not hard to see why the celebs are going crazy for it!

The lovely staff from Vita Liberata were backstage at this year’s Brits Spa. After spending two days beautifully tanning up our favorite celebs, the staff and the big head honchos at the O2 Arena, it’s no surprise that on the day of the Brits, the VL staff were completely bombarded by A-Listers who were going crazy for the stuff.

One of the most popular products seemed to be their Capture the Light illuminating skin finish. This amazing product comprises illuminating skin finishers with Opaque or Translucent coverage which can be used as stand-alone skin perfectors, or alongside the Vita Liberata tanning range to accentuate a natural bronze tan. It retails at just under £30 a bottle, and is worth every penny.

Beyonce and Katy Perry

James CordonBut if you don’t trust me, maybe Beyonce can convince you? Her team completely stocked up on this product before her amazing performance.  Not a Beyonce fan?  Then, perhaps Katy Perry can persuade you? Her makeup artist helped herself to lots of this magical stuff too.  And it seems it’s not only women who want an illuminated finish with James Corden grabbing a bag before the show began.

VL productsI strongly recommend trying out the Vita Liberata range. From their pHenomenal 2 – 3 week tan to their Anti Age Tanning products, they really do get it right every time. Their products not only create a beautiful, natural looking tan, they also cater for your skin’s needs.

I would say that this brand really is leading the way into the future of fake tanning! (Full range can be seen on their website –

If it’s good enough for Beyonce…it’s good enough for me!

Capture the Light with Vita Liberata!

Soft, Dewy skin is at the top of everyone Christmas list. But, with so many highlighters and illuminators on the market, how do you know which are best? Which  are worth the investment and which  are a waste of money.

Let me start by saying that we rarely get highlighter or illuminators which are tailored to different skin tones etc. Yes, you do get them, but rarely in the same range and from the same brand. You may have to go to the likes of Smash Box for Halo Lighting for Fair Skin, Benefit Cosmetics – Sun Beam for Golden skin or maybe Illamasqua – Super Natural Gleam Cream for Dark Skin. However, there is no need to run around collecting all different products from different brands for your kit, as Vita Liberata do the most amazing Highligter / Illuminators in a range of 5 different colours and finishes. I have been trying out the Translucent Gold and Opaque Light Latte for a while now. Both of which are some of the most gorgeous products I’ve tried.

Vita Liberata Capture the Light LatteThey have a sort of air whipped consistency when they come out of the bottle. This product really packs a punch, you need such a small amount to go a long way. The product is intensely moisturising, it has extract of Aloe Leaf to soothe irritation, Shea Butter to repair and Hyaluronic Acid to help replenish lost moisture.

These products work beautifully under, over and mixed with your foundation. When used under your makeup as an illuminator, you can create a very subtle effect. Apply on the upper cheek bones, bridge of the nose, cupid’s bow and on your brow bones to catch the light. When applied over your makeup as a highlighter, this product is stunning. If you are looking for a dewy flawless finish to you makeup you can even mix it in with your foundation.

Vita Liberata Capture the Light Buttermilk OpaqueWhen applying this product directly over or under your makeup, I recommend using a brush like the C404 Small Duo Fibre Face Brush by Crown for an even, flawless and blended finish.

Capture the Light is well on its way to becoming a cult product with its popularity growing after being featured on the runways of London Fashion Week.

This product does not just stop at your face! It can be used all over the body, on the face, arms, legs, neck and décolletage. It can be used on clean skin, over or under makeup, over your false tan. It is so versatile it can be used almost everywhere.

Vita Liberata Capture the Light Buttermilk Translucent GoldTIP: If you are like me and are plagued with blue/purple circles under the eyes, dab a little Translucent Gold around the inner darkest area of the under eye and then apply your makeup per usual and you will notice great improvements in the appearance of your circles, they automatically appear lighter, without looking shiny.

Below will tell you which product is best suited for you:

Use Latte Light for a flawless, light bronzing to legs, arms, décolletage and face.  Can be used on its own or to finish and perfect already tanned skin following application of Vita Liberata self tan.

Use Gold for a luminescent skin finish and to enhance tanned skin. Perfect for sallow skin, this can be used on the legs, arms, décolletage and face.

Use Rose for a luminescent skin finish. Perfect for pale skin, this can be used on the legs, arms, décolletage and face.

Use Buttermilk on pale skin to neutralise flushing and soften freckles and blemishes without creating a tanned effect. Perfect for the legs, arms, décolletage and face.

Use Latte for a flawless, medium bronzing to legs, arms, décolletage and face. Can be used on its own or to deepen and perfect already tanned skin.

Vita Liberata Capture the Light Translucent RoseCapture the Light also helps protect your skin, with its SPF 25. It is non-toxic and almost completely organic. It is 100% free from Paraben, Perfume and Alcohol.

This product comes in a beautiful 30ml bottle and is priced at £29.95. When you take into account how versatile this product is and how such a small amount of product goes a very long way, I think it is priced well for an upmarket highlighter. Obviously you can go for a highlighter at £15, but you won’t get the same level of standard from the product.  If you buy from their website now you even get Free Delivery and Free Mini Tanning Mitt AND a free travel size surprise! What is not to love about that!

So whether you are a makeup artist or just an enthusiast, if you want to invest in a GREAT highlighter / illuminator, I would definitely recommend this product. I love it, it is used every single day in my kit.

Tanning Friday: Vita Liberata – Deeper Deep Silken Touch – Untinted Self Tan Gel

Vita Liberata Tanning Gel

This week’s product is both amazing and ground breaking.

This product is essential for all fake tanners. Not only is it incredibly easy to apply, with fantastic results…it also combats the one main problem that all us fakers are faced with!

Quite simply…Vita Liberata have done it again! This company know how to make fake tan. I have previously reviewed their phenomenal 2 – 3 week tan which is a fantastic product and the first fake tan I have ever come across to last up to 3 weeks with a natural, gradual fade out. And now this.

8cLet’s face it, as wonderful as the world of fake tan is, we all have to deal with, and be extremely careful not to get stains on the bed sheets, marks on your clothing and generally discolour things we come into contact with. Well worry no more fakers! This tan is guaranteed NO TRANSFER.

This un-tinted self tan gel will not stain your gorgeous clothing, so is perfect for weddings and big events when you wear your most fabulous outfits! In my opinion, the one problem with fake tan…eliminated!

This is a gradual tan, and once applied develops into a gorgeous dark, deep tan within 4 – 8 hours. I recommend applying at night and sleeping in it, before showering in the morning. And no need to wrap up entirely in loose, frumpy clothing, as this tan will not stain your sheets! Your partner can thank Vita Liberata later 😉

As this tan is a gel, it couldn’t be easier to apply! As always, use your trusty tanning mitt. Add a small, 2p sized amount to your mitt and enjoy as you rub the moisturising gel into your freshly prepped skin (never forget the prep)! The gel leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth, but not at all sticky or greasy. I have honestly never enjoyed applying a tan so much, it is so easy and simple.

The final result is a very natural looking, streak free, deep tan. If you want a noticeable tan then this is the one for you. You could always water down with moisturiser if you wanted a slightly more subtle tan, but to be honest, I think it would be a shame not to make the most of this fabulous natural colour and really show off!

I don’t know how they do it, but Vita Liberata continue to astound with their ground breaking, impressive products, always a step ahead of everyone else!

At around £22.50, I realise it is slightly more than most tans you will find on the high street, but it really is worth every penny. Plus, you will save loads of money not having to buy new bed sheets and clothing! Phew!! You can buy it here!

Friday Tanning Review: Vita Liberata pHenomenal 2-3 week tan

This week’s fake tan is Vita Liberata pHenomenal 2-3 week tan. Following last week’s very cheap but very very good fake tan, I have chosen a slightly more costly, but exceptionally good product!

Vita Liberata pHenomenal 2-3 week tan

I am a strong believer that you do not have to spend a fortune to achieve a perfect fake tan, but when a tan is as remarkably good as this one is, I think it is worth every penny!

What makes this tan stand out, amongst other things, is the length of time it lasts!

Vita Liberata pHenomenal 2-3 week tan

If like many people, you want a year round healthy glow, but cannot be bothered to reapply every few days to a week, this is the tan for you! Although it may cost slightly more than some, once applied it lasts 2 – 3 weeks, so it won’t run out as quickly as your average bottle. Upon first application I must admit, I was skeptical of the longevity of this product. But I was extremely surprised and extremely tanned for a full 2 weeks! This is also perfect for anyone going on a summer holiday that either does not tan very well, or does not like to sit in the sun. If you want to wear that beautiful new swim suit, with a drop dead gorgeous tan throughout your holiday…then simply apply this fake tan before you jet off, and it will last the duration, even with a few dips in the sea! Fakery at it’s VERY best!

This fake tan is a mousse which makes application very simple! I would recommend using a tanning mitt for best results! (See the application tips at the bottom of this review). And once applied this fake tan absorbs into the skin quicker than you can say “Lookatmyfabuloustan!” And with no sign of streaks! This is also a fake tan that you can confidently sleep in, to let it develop overnight before showering, and know that it will not leave noticeable marks and stains on your clothes or bed sheets! Bonus.

The smell is very minimal and any small scent left behind (which can’t be helped) is very pleasant and refreshing. This fake tan is a freak of nature, in the best possible way! It is a gradual tan which means it develops over a few hours and lasts…not days like your usual tan…but weeks!! After 2 weeks the tan fades like a natural tan would, without any steaks or patches. Even with daily showers throughout.

In all my years of using fake tan I have never come across such an impressive, advanced and unique product. This fake tan does last as long as it claims to, and looks extremely natural, with no orange glow whatsoever!

At around £37 a bottle, with many retailers regularly doing offers on the range, you really are getting a quality product that saves a lot of time and ensures a natural looking tan that will have you living in vests and shorts all year round!

Vita Liberata also do many other amazing products to suit every skin type. They can be found here – or are available at Boots, Debenhams and House of Fraser in the UK.

If you would like me to review any other fake tans from their range please let me know!

Application Tips – as always, your basic skin prep is essential – no matter what fake tan you use, it is important to have the best canvas possible. This means, hit the shower and have a good thorough scrub with an exfoliant all over the areas you intend to fake tan. This removes all of the dead skin cells that would get in the way of an even application. Once dry make sure you moisturise the ankles, feet, knees, elbows, hands and wrists. And if you’re going to be shaving, always do so around 24 hours before tan application. Always apply with a tanning mitt if possible, this creates a smoother application and makes it easier to cover all areas. If you have to use your hand, ensure all areas are covered, you have enough product on your hands at all times, and always wash your hands thoroughly straight after. If you have any visible streaks or patches, use a thin moisturiser to even them out.

Next week I will be reviewing an instant tan, with tips and secrets about the safest and best ways to apply!
