Cleansing Wipes – Simplified!

I am often asked about good cleansers and cleansing wipes. A lot of people use baby wipes as you get more for your money, but truth is baby wipes were not developed for the sensitive skin on your face.

A lot of brands will make wipes for Dry/Normal or Normal/Oily skin, but we know our skin is a bit more complex or temperamental than that.

So I wanted to tell you about Simple’s range of Cleansing Wipes. They cover a range of issues and skin types from Sensitve to Spot Proned through to Dull or Mature. Below is a selection from their wipes, you are sure to find something to suit your skin.

They come in packs of 25 wipes, they are priced between £3.20 to £4.20 and readily available at a wide range of outlets.

For a Daytime Make-up Look which is ‘Barely There’….

I am always asked of good ways to apply a natural daytime make-up look, so today I am sharing with you one of my top finds for this look and it is totally affordable!

The secret to Natural Make-up, is not to wear very little, but to use colours which are natural and will enhance you r facial features.

My prize find for this look is a little hidden gem by cosmetics brand ’17’. It is a trio of eye-shadow’s and the name is ‘Barely There’. In this trio you get a nude eye-shadow, a pink eye-shadow and a light brown eye-shadow.

Using this trio properly you can shape and enhance your eyes very easily. It will look like you have hardly any make-up on yet with amazing shape and definition to your eyes. You can always add a little more of the brown if you need to up your game a little if you are heading out.

I love the nude colour shadow in this trio. It gives off such a subtle sheen, which means that it is great for use to highlight under your brow too.

Recommended use for this product is as follows:

Step 1: Apply the nude colour eye-shadow all over your eyelid, a little under your brow bone to enhance your brows and finally apply some under your eye from corner to corner.

Step 2: Using the Pink coloured eye-shadow apply this liberally above the crease of your eye, from the outer corner and about 3/4 the way across your eyes socket.

Step 3: Using the Brown eye-shadow, apply this deep in the crease of your eye, from the outer corner inward to the middle of your eye. Also using this shadow, apply under the eye – again from the outer corner to the middle of your eye and blend in with the shadow from step one.

That’s it! It is so simple and easy to use. The trio set is a great size for carrying round in your handbag (Although try not to be too rough with it as I find they smash easily) and a bargain at only £5.49 in Boots. These trios come in 12 different colour sets. If you have more of an almond undertone to your skin, try out the ‘In the Nude’ instead of ‘Barely There’ for a great natural look.

All 3 steps can be completed using one eye-shadow brush. Make sure to use a fluffy eye-shadow brush as this will help to blend the eye-shadow’s together when you are applying them, leaving you with a beautifully natural look. Using a smooth brush or a sponge will give you more of an uneven, unblended and unnatural look.

For an added extra and to make your eyes really shine, try applying a White Eye-liner pencil to your bottom waterline.

Try it out and make sure to let me know how you get on….

Shine like the star that you are….

I am a big fan of beautiful lip glosses. I prefer lip gloss to lip stick any day. Although I am definitely very picky about the lip glosses I deem fit for my makeup case. There are lots of lip glosses out there that promise us the world and let’s face it, they either end up gliding off onto every glass or disappear with the slightest introduction of food. So I have tried and tested HUNDREDS of lip-glosses, so today I will share with you one of them. I will reveal more of my favourites over time.

There are lots of things to take into account when searching for a good lip gloss… texture, colour density, applicator, staying power, price … So I do not make recommendations lightly.

One of my favourites is Benefit Cosmetics Ultra Shine Gloss. It comes in a range of 12 colours. What I love about them is that the colour you see in the jar is the colour you get on your lips. Their colours are true to shade so you always get what you see. There is such a great range of colours too, some are even-toned glosses and some with added glitter to make sure you sparkle at your brightest. The colours range from subtle nudes to high shine Sparkling Fuchsia. One of my personal favourites is ‘Wild Child’, which is a glimmering Amethyst.

All of the Ultra Shine glosses have a silky soft brush applicator. There is nothing worse than having a nice lip gloss and then having to wrestle with it for 5 minutes, only get enough to do half a lip. The gloss comes out easily and the soft brush allows an even and consistent application.

The density of the product is perfect. When I buy a lip gloss, I want a good shine off it and if the brand doesn’t have the density of the product just right, they lose the dramatic shine. Ultra Shine lip gloss has a beautiful high gloss shine. It is thick enough to make sure it stays put yet its consistency ensures minimal product usage yet keeping its beautiful shine. You don’t get the stickiness which comes so often with many lip glosses. It has such a light and silky feel to wear.

Ultra Shine Lip Glosses have great staying power too. I am an avid tea drinker, if you ever see me without a cuppa in hand, you should assume there is something very wrong with me 🙂 This is usually a lip gloss nightmare, but not for Ultra Shine. The gloss really does put up a fight against my caffeine addiction. Even when you start to lose the volume of gloss on your lips, you don’t lose the colour. While we are on the topic of staying power, I have to mention that I have been using these glosses a LOT for over a year now and I have yet to reach the end of one of them. A small amount of product goes a long way so you can be sure you will not be needing to run out and buy one every couple of months.

Benefit Cosmetics Ultra Shine lip Glosses are very reasonably priced at £14 for a 5ml tube and is available to purchase online at http://www.benefitcosmetics.com, Alternatively, you can pop down to any Benefit Counter at many department stores including Debenhams, Harvey Nichols, House of Fraser and Boots to try before you buy.

Oxygen WOW for your skin!

HELLO FLAWLESS – OXYGEN WOW – BRIGHTENING FOUNDATION

This is big news for all you Benefit Cosmetics lovers out there. Benefit has released their first liquid foundation!!

Hello Flawless is a new oil-free liquid foundation which provides a light to medium coverage. It is available in 9 great shades, so you are sure to find one to suit your complexion.

It does state to the box to blend on your face with a brush or your fingertips….. you all know my views on applying makeup with your fingers! 🙂

This foundation blends on the skin beautifully with a brush and is very easy to build the coverage without it looking caked on, it remains natural looking with 2/3 layers.

Benefit have launched this foundation at the perfect time of year. With SPF 15 and UVA PA+++, you can be rest assured that you don’t have to add any extra sun cream in the summer months. It’s got you covered. Not only that but, if you are anything like me and your skin tends to get a little dry in the summer with the heat, the new Hello Flawless Liquid Foundation will leave your skin feeling moisturised and looking healthy and dewy.

Although the SPF in this product is great for everyday wear, for a Makeup Artist, SPF usually screams  DANGER! The particles in the SPF will usually reflect the light from camera flashes etc, which would make it a nightmare to use in the professional environment of photo-shoot’s etc. . . . I am pleased to tell you that I have tried this out and as long as it is applied correctly and evenly, you do not get the dreaded ghost like reflection from the SPF in this foundation. . .  So I pronounce this product, Makeup Artist friendly 🙂The foundation has a plumping effect so it will help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Since switching to this foundation I have had so many compliments on my skin and makeup. My advice to you is, you MUST try this out! Pop down to any Benefit Cosmetics counter and they will apply it for you so you can test it out and fall in love for yourself.

I think this product is perfect for Dry to Normal skin. If you have combination or oily skin, I would just suggest a little tester first. That is not to say that it won’t suit your skin type, as I have used it on many people with oily t-zone etc, but I just recommend that you test it for yourself before purchase.

Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation is priced at £24.50 for a 30ml pump bottle and is available to purchase online at http://www.benefitcosmetics.com, Alternatively, you can find Benefit Counters at many department stores including Debenhams, Harvey Nichols, House of Fraser and Boots.
