Precious Metals: A Hair Hit

Precious metal hair is very on trend  and it doesn’t look set to be disappearing anytime soon.  So here’s my heads up on Gold!
Sienna Miller Rose Gold Hair
Rose gold has been a rising look since Sienna Miller hit the red carpet with her stunning pinkish blonde tresses in December 2013.
Molly Sims Rose Gold Hair
The likes of Victoria Secret’s model Molly Sims and actress Rachel McAdams were hot on her heels and it looks like this stunning tone is quickly becoming a firm favourite in celeb world and has taken a firm place on the runways too, with models flaunting this fabulous look whilst wearing the latest collections for A/W 14.
Rachel McAdams Rose Gold Hair
Pinky Bronze tones are also destined to be hot for this coming season.  This look can be achieved by fusing together some rich butterscotch tones with glowing honey tints and hues of soft baby pink to give a softer but trend setting edge to this look.  What a perfect way to add warm tones to your hair and warm up your skin for the long cold nights ahead!

Dress of the Month ~ May 2014

My favourite dress in May only arrived a few weeks ago and already has me so distracted! The stunning Rosa is an exquisite beaded lace fishtail gown with a beautiful neckline and capped sleeves.

Every element of this dress is gorgeous and of such amazing quality, it really is a beautifully made dress – the inner corset ensures the fit of the dress is fabulous, the Swarovski crystals twinkle, and the lace detailing is impeccably finished. But what makes this dress stand out so much for me is the amazing pale gold colour!

In a shop full of ivory gowns, of course it’s going to stand out, but there is something just delicious about this shade – it is mega flattering against Irish skin! Somehow it works as well on dark haired girls as it does on blondes. I cannot wait to see which bride buys her first!

A/W 2012 Catwalk Makeup Look in 6 Easy Steps….

The Beauty Cloud recently attended Designer Nor Lisa’s Catwalk for the Launch of her new 2012 A/W Collection. The make-up on the evening was by Professional Make-up Artist Nuala Campbell. We caught up with her to find out what inspired her design and also more importantly, how we can recreate it at home. Here is what she said….

I love the change of seasons from Spring/Summer to Autumn / Winter. It allows me to free my mind and create new sketches and drawings in the fresh new season. My designs are influenced by a number of factors such as the Catwalks of the world, the designer garment being showcased and also the location and surroundings of the event. So much has to be taken into account to make sure that the Make-up ‘fits’ into the show.

Nuala Campbell’s Make-up on Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model Contestant Diona Doherty modelling Nor Lisa Designs at the event in Cafe Vaudeville in Belfast in September 2012.

The Make-up look which I designed for the Nor Lisa A/W Catwalk in September 2012, incorporates a mix of textures and an unusual blend of colours which really stood out against each other. The eyes included a range of Loose Pigment, Matte and Metallic products in colours such as Forest Green, Hot Pink / Purple and Burnt Orange with Gold accents.

Both the eye make-up and the garments had such deep sumptuous colours, so I decided to add a touch of Bollywood glamour with a tricolour of pearls to really help set the look off.

Below is my final sketch and face-chart with some of the colours and products used on the models at the show.

A/W Catwalk Look created by Professional Make-up Artist Nuala Campbell for Designer Nor Lisa’s Launch Catwalk of her new 2012 Collection. (Click to enlarge)

I decided to go for a natural soft pink gloss lip so the detail on the eyes had the opportunity to  really stand out and make an appearance.

The foundation base of the make-up was a high coverage dewy look, with a subtle blush on the apples of the cheeks.

To recreate my Nor Lisa A/W 2012 eyes follow these easy steps:

1. Start by Priming and Prepping the eye area.

2. Take a Metallic Green eye-shadow ( I used Clarins Jungle Green).  Starting from just where the iris of the eye begins, sweep the eye-shadow across to the outer corner and up into the crease of the eye. Then apply the green eye-shadow under the eye from the outer corner to 3/4 way across the eye.

3. Using a Dark Brown Eye-shadow apply the product on the eyelid, starting at the outer corner and blend in 1/3 across the eyelid and the same on the lower eyelid. Do not apply too much of this product, you don’t want to kill the colour of the Metallic Green, it is only to create a smoked effect.

4. Using a Dark Burnt Orange Eye-shadow, apply into the crease only and blend with the green and sweeping upwards.

5. Using Gold Pigment (if you are not comfortable using loose pigment, you can just use a gold eye-shadow) apply the product, starting at the inner corner of the eyelid and bring across and blend into where the Green Eye-shadow starts. This product should only be about 1/4 of the way across the eyelid from the inner corner.

6. To really set this look off, pick a Hot Pink/Purple Satin texture eye-shadow (Try Urban Decay ‘Noise’). Apply this product starting at the top of the gold and upwards to meet the eyebrow. This eye-shadow should be blended in all directions with no harsh lines. Gently blend it into the Gold and Green wherever they meet. This product is on the inner eye socket area only and should not be blended across the brow bone.

7.Finish off with some Black Eye-liner and Mascara and you are ready to go.

This is a really beautiful look when you get it right. Don’t be afraid of the colours, have a play around with it and you will have the look perfected in no time at all.

If you have any questions about the products or techniques used to create the look or if you have given this look a go and just want to share how you got on, please leave me a comment below or drop me an email. Have Fun!

MEDAL WINNING HAIR

With the Olympics have just finished and the Paralympics about to start, its hard not to be in a medal frenzy. Every competitor aiming to achieve Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Gold, Silver and Bronze are not out of reach for all of us. We can have them everyday – with our Hair Colour!

Let me show you how you can achieve medal winning hair with your colour !!!

BRONZE

Bronze maybe the third on podium but with hair colour its one of the richest colours. It produces such a shine it can give a metallic glint on the hair.

The secret with a Bronze colour is when selecting the shade is not to go too dark or too light.

If its too Dark …….. The Bronze will get lost with the darkness loosing that metallic glow.

If the colour is too light ……… it will either glow an orangey tint or look faded and washed out.

The ideal shades for bronze is a dark to medium blonde.

Skin Tones that can carry Bronze are on the paler edge and also freckles can work with the Bronze colour giving that alternative Irish Colleen look.

SILVER

Silver Definitely gives you that metallic shimmer of the hair.

It’s a very sought after colour for both male and female ……It can make any blonde look contemporary !!

Silver is one of the hardest tones to achieve …….. Fighting against not looking grey or one off the blue rinse brigade!!

Before you start even trying to add a silver tone the hair must be lighten to a very very pale blonde, if there is any trace of gold / yellow the silver will either disappear and do nothing our turn a strange hint of green.

The colour has to be exceptionally light to leave the silver nearly see through so it doesn’t become grey.

To up keep this silver tone is difficult and can fade easy but…..

HERO PRODUCT: Schwarzkopf Bonacure Color Save Silver Shampoo is excellent.

If you find your silver tone is fading leave the shampoo lathered up on 3-5 mins and it will refresh your toned!

Skin Tones that suit Silver are clear with icy blue eyes.

Giving an edge to any Nordic Blonde!!

GOLD

Gold in Hair Colour is exactly as it is in it metal form ……. Luxurious and Lustrous !!

It is making a huge impact on the Blonde scene at the moment , Riching up and softening blondes making them multi-tonal.

Gold is extremely for blondes …….. Whether they be full heads or foils you can inject some gold into your life and colour !!

Going for gold in an all over blonde needs to be done subtly and gently always swaying to soft wheat tones so not to have overkill resulting in Brassy Blonde.

In foils / Lights introducing a golden blo

So now Gold, Silver and Bronze …… aren’t such hard work to achieve !!!

Blonde put through can totally change the dynamic  off the hair colour. It softens the whole look down giving that natural, effortless feel to the colour.

Any Shade of Blonde can introduce gold into their colour.

Skin tones that suit gold’s can vary from clear to tanned depending on the strength of gold.

So all blondes can radiate like they are top of the world.
