Summer Hair to Dye For

The weather seems to be picking up and the sun is out.  Woohoo! It’s time for some summer fun so why not start with your hair colour?  A few celeb’s are already leading the way with their stunning new summer hairdos.

Katy Perry Green Hair DyeKaty Perry has decided to go for a fresh spring colour and there’s nothing that says more spring than green! Katy calls her green tresses ‘slime colour’.  Well, I’ve never seen slime looking so good.

Kelly OsbourneKelly Osborne, never to be out done, has gone for a more subtle lilac colour with beautiful soft tones.  I have fallen in love with this looks soft feminine feel that still manages to retain an edge.

Keeping with the soft subtle theme, Julianne Hough is our inspiration.  Here, she’s sporting silvery grey tones icing up her blonde maine with clever suggestive colouring.

Fancy some spring time tones and colour?  Well, here’s a fantastic way of injecting them in into your current hairstyle.  Those of you who follow my blog you will know what a huge fan I am of these little gems…  You will never find me without them in my session bag… Yes, that’s right! It’s Kevin Murphy’s Color Bug.  These little bugs can give colour ranging from subtle tones to vivid streaks and last until your next shampoo.  For subtle tones apply to dry hair.  For more striking colour add to damp hair.

There are a range of fun colours to choose from.  There are pink, purple and orange dyes – perfect for achieving an eye-popping look.  For more subtle colouring use the white bug to ice out blondes and glimmer bug to give glamorous golden tones to blondes and brunettes.

Let’s all have some fun in the sun with our hair colour – even if it’s just for a day!!!

There’s a New A-Lister in Town

Recently, we’ve been spoilt with award ceremonies.  From the Oscars to the Brits…all of our favourite celebrities have been out in force, glamming it up and parting until the small hours of the morning.

But there is one attendee that has really stood out for me. No, I’m not talking about the extremely handsome Jared Leto and his amazingly silky hair…

…I’m not talking about the gorgeous Pharell Williams and that ridiculous hat…

…I am in fact, talking about the new kid on the block, the thing that everyone wants to get their hands on…Vita Liberata.

Vita Liberata

If you are not familiar with this brand of fake tan, then shame on you. It is easily one of my favourites. And it’s not hard to see why the celebs are going crazy for it!

The lovely staff from Vita Liberata were backstage at this year’s Brits Spa. After spending two days beautifully tanning up our favorite celebs, the staff and the big head honchos at the O2 Arena, it’s no surprise that on the day of the Brits, the VL staff were completely bombarded by A-Listers who were going crazy for the stuff.

One of the most popular products seemed to be their Capture the Light illuminating skin finish. This amazing product comprises illuminating skin finishers with Opaque or Translucent coverage which can be used as stand-alone skin perfectors, or alongside the Vita Liberata tanning range to accentuate a natural bronze tan. It retails at just under £30 a bottle, and is worth every penny.

Beyonce and Katy Perry

James CordonBut if you don’t trust me, maybe Beyonce can convince you? Her team completely stocked up on this product before her amazing performance.  Not a Beyonce fan?  Then, perhaps Katy Perry can persuade you? Her makeup artist helped herself to lots of this magical stuff too.  And it seems it’s not only women who want an illuminated finish with James Corden grabbing a bag before the show began.

VL productsI strongly recommend trying out the Vita Liberata range. From their pHenomenal 2 – 3 week tan to their Anti Age Tanning products, they really do get it right every time. Their products not only create a beautiful, natural looking tan, they also cater for your skin’s needs.

I would say that this brand really is leading the way into the future of fake tanning! (Full range can be seen on their website – http://www.vitaliberata.co.uk/)

If it’s good enough for Beyonce…it’s good enough for me!

Magnificent Monochrome Nails

“Is it spring yet? I need to get some brighter colours on my nails”. I have been asking this since taking off my silver sparkly Christmas polish in the New Year. There are only so many sultry shades I can cope with before they start bringing me down and I need a lift.

So, to keep my spirits up I excitedly looked through the New York and London Fashion Week pictures waiting to be inspired by the latest, most exciting, never seen before, nail trend…what a disappointment!

Simple Patterns, mixing shades, 3D add on’s, stripes, textured, sombre, boring, boring, boring.

Half moon manicure

Yaawn! The only thing that caught my eye as being in any way new and inspiring was the modern French manicure and the floating half-moon. Both individually not that pretty but put them together and I think were on to something.

BUT, it’s not enough – I’m still kidding myself that the brief break in the clouds means it’s pretty much spring and I should break out the pastels and maybe some glitter. I’m not sure if I can I continue with these darker shades without feeling completely “meh”?

However, just as I am about to cry into my laptop with despair, a desperate search of ‘nail art’ on Instagram saves the day…Baam!

There it is….Leona Lewis had smashed it with her nail look for the Grammys, a monochrome ‘checkmate’ manicure. I am totally in love with this look – it is elegant, stylish, sophisticated, new and if nails could speak they would be saying “we mean business”.

Leona’s fabulous nails were created by top celebrity manicurist, Kimmie Kyees whose handiwork has graced the nails of A-listers like Katy Perry, Rihanna, Selena Gomez and Britney Spears.

Leona’s look was created using Red Carpet Manicure, the first at-home LED gel manicure system. Kimmie Kyees used RCM’s White Hot and Black Stretch Limo to achieve Leona Lewis’ colour blocked gel manicure. Lewis’ celebrity manicurist first painted the whole nail with two coats of White Hot, and then with a striper brush, divided the nail into three sections, and filled in the sides with Black Stretch Limo.

Happy at last! Thank you Kimmie Kyees and Leona Lewis for these beautiful creations, I can’t wait to go and try them out.  Fingers crossed they look as amazing on my hands as they do on Leona’s….wish me luck!

Natural -V- False

The Natural way isn’t always the most fun way …. Let’s face it, we go to so much effort to look good when we go out,  from new shoes, dresses accessories, make-up, to false tan, false lashes, false nails…..so why stop there…. why not have false hair too.

I have to admit, although I have a great hairdresser and I love my hair, sometimes I just wish I could go crazy with it and unless my hairdresser wants to move in with me, that’s just not going to happen.  Therefore, I have decided to join the newest celebrity craze and join the wig crew!

Nicki Minaj, a star studded American Singer/Rapper has the right idea… she landed into our world simply to grace us with some awesome wigs! I love her style, she isn’t afraid of colour injection and her wigs really just bring her look to life! If it’s not her wig’s that bring the colour then her clothes and make-up will not let us down. I would love to know how she gets away with all these colours and yet doesn’t over power us! She’s fab!

Another personal favourite has to be Katy Perry! The famous long wavy blue wig just looks like it was made for her. This has to be one of my favourite coloured wigs…. now if I could just find the courage to wear it!

I love the shape of all Jessie J’s wigs, the perfect bob hairstyle that we strive so hard for and yet can never quite reach…. She has it mastered! Purple is my favourite colour so I just LOVE this one!

So we know there are lots of gorgeously stylish and colourful wigs out there which totally rock our socks. I don’t mind that these wigs are quite obviously fake, what  I just haven’t quite got the love for though are wigs which are supposed to look real, but we all know are false… Selena Gomez in her blonde wig just makes me shudder a little. I don’t get it at all. I definitely think she should stick to her luscious dark locks.

What do you think of wigs? Do you already own some? or perhaps would just love to try one out but haven’t built up the courage quite yet…. why not share your thoughts with us! I definitely want to purchase this Jessie J style wig below!
