I had the pleasure of flying over to work at London Fashion Week at the weekend. What can I say – IT ROCKS! The level of organisation and sheer beauty was phenomenal.
One of the shows I was working on was the Bernard Chandran AW14 Show. The designs were edgy, sexy and really packed a punch. They were mostly leather which just oozed sex appeal. The collection was designed with a masculine edge which delivers an element of power to these designs. AND THE BOOTS…. Do I need to mention those boots?! #Want #Need
I was there as part of Nora Nona’s Makeup Team! Boy is she a born leader and a pleasure to work with. She is a woman who knows exactly what she wants and she has a beautiful way of making it happen.
Across the different shows which I worked on, there was one common denominator. Nude on Nude on Nude! AW14 is all about the flawless nude skin, which also meant – NO MASCARA! I have to admit, I did have a mini heart attack at the thought of models going on the catwalk with no mascara. I am a big mascara fan, I think it really changes the whole look of your makeup when you add it in. But I have to say, the results were flawless. It takes a lot of time to create a nude makeup fit for catwalk and I admit that when it was done, I didn’t even miss or notice that the mascara wasn’t there. It was all about contouring and skin!
Another trend on the AW14 Catwalk was dewy skin and I don’t mean the odd bit of shine on the cheek bones. Light reflecting creams and facial oils were in full swing on the catwalks of London Fashion Week. I worked with Nicola Moore on the Tessa Edwards AW14 show as well and the idea was to almost make the skin look like plastic. It was glossy all over – Usually this is a big no no in terms of makeup, but on the Catwalks of London – It worked!
Tessa Edwards designs were a big contrast to those of Bernard Chandran, but stunning none the less. From pleats, metallic’s and monochrome the Tessa Edwards AW14 show captured the biggest trends this year but with a twist.
So if you want to know what the up-coming trend in terms of Makeup for AW14 – It’s Nude on Nude! But remember, its nude with a punch! Start practicing your contouring skills now!
